• New User feedback section of code.. which file?

From nolageek@VERT/CAPSHRIL to All on Monday, April 28, 2014 15:08:19
    Hey guys!

Thanks for the help with my previous quest for code ... Now I'm trying to fnd at which point the new user feedback is sent. I thought it'd be in newuser.js but that seems to be mostly what happens after the questions are asked and the feedback is sent. I would like to modify the feedback letter process by adding an option to verify their email address instead. I just can't find that bit o' code. :)

Now I'm trying to find at which point the new user feedback is sent.

It might not be in any of the Javascript files - as I found out when coding BBSlink, a fair amount of the logon/login process is actually hard coded into Synchronet. I can't remember off hand whether you're running Windows or Linux, but if it's the latter, it's pretty easy to edit the source and recompile.

Running windows - been looking since Friday so I think you're right, must be hardcoded. Hmm.

Not sure I understand what you mean by this ^

I may try that... I hope I can find a way to bypass the while feedback part in this email validators.

So, I added it as a door and set it to run as a newuser event. It worked ... about 70%. THe message was outputted to /node1/temp/ but the email wasn't sent. I did see this in the logs:

    4/29 09:10:51p 0000 SEND last_msg=0, smb.status.last_msg=185, elapsed=1398820251
    4/29 09:11:51p 0000 SEND last_msg=185, smb.status.last_msg=186, elapsed=60
    4/29 09:11:56p 0000 SEND last_msg=186, smb.status.last_msg=187, elapsed=5
    4/29 09:22:51p 0000 SEND last_msg=187, smb.status.last_msg=188, elapsed=655
    4/29 09:22:56p 0000 SEND last_msg=188, smb.status.last_msg=189, elapsed=5

But nothing in my gmail inbox. I was able to pull the code out the msg in /node1/temp/ and was successful in entering it.. I got the "congrats!" message but then it froze. I'm now looking at the js - I hope I can get it working.

My goal is to have it optionally replace the feedback letter, if I can swingit. :)

I'm playing with the telnet validator as found here:

Anyone get this running on a current version of Sync?

Lets guess that your ISP blocks port 25 so you cant send email out. :o

there are text files that are displayed to the users at certain points.
    these are hard coded.

you can insert a code inside them that launch baja and js scripts

I wasn't able to use the validator, but found one elsewhere that worked. I am still using the oneliners and rumors without any issues. I tweaked them quite a bit, but they're working. :)
