Yes, but old DOS Door applications are 16-bit, and Windows x64 does not support 16-bit DOS apps so you'll either have to do without old DOS doors, find 32-bit versions of old DOS doors, or just be happy with JavaScript games that a lot of people on Dovenet have been converting doors to.

For example, Usurper has a 32-bit build now that'll run on x64 Windows. Of course the configuration/setup application is 16-bit still so you'll have to manually edit the configuration file, but for most people that's not too difficult.

Oh, you could also run an old door using an emulator like DOSBox, but I've never tried and I've heard it can be tricky to pull off.

Finally, a lot of people who run Win7/8 x64 will install WinXP using Virtual PC or some other Virtual Machine program and run their BBS that way.

Yes, but 16-bit DOS programs will not, so you'll need to make sure that you disable/replace any 16-bit programs with native 32-bit (or 64-bit) versions.

it's pretty easy actually. i used it for a few games just to play around with it.


best thing to do is just run a VM. eventually everyone that runs a bbs on modern hardware will be running it on a vm.
