• sending netmail to other fidonet zones

From Ner@VERT/NERBBS to All on Saturday, February 22, 2014 01:07:36
    Hey guys,

I have netmail set up in Synchronet to send Fidonet aka zones 1-6 through my fidonet hub. This is of course done in sbbsecho and it appears as if synchronet processes this mail automatically. So for instance, when I send mail to 1:275/100, my hub, for area fix stuff, I create a local netmail to sbbsecho@1L275/100 and do my thing.

I have two other system addresses set up in networking, fidonet, addresses. When I send mail to these addresses for instance, we'll say for example sake 123:45/1 which the system knows is my hub and that my address is 123:45/67,
the message says it's being created and lines are being saved, but when I look in my netmail folder, there's nothing there. Also, when looking at the binkd log files, I see log entries when the messages are sent to the zone 1 address but none i.e. nothing sent to the other zones. I have 1:all set to route to
my hub in sbbsecho and the other zones set to route correctly in sbbsecho, but it can't route anything if there's no netmail messages to process. Also note, I have netmail set to crash so it should go out, but all I'm getting is messages sent to zone 1 alone.

    Can anyone figure this out?

    Noel

Seems that messages &are* being created by looking at the sbbsecho log file sorry. Seems as if my problem is with binkd. I'll have to troubleshoot from that angle.

What you have in "Networking > Fidonet > Addresses" are meant to be YOUR node number (main) and AKAs, not anyone elses. So if you're trying to send a netmail to one of the addresses listed there, you're trying to send a netmail to yourself. Which is probably why it's not processing correctly.

You have to setup your uplink's node numbers in ECHOCFG or manually in sbbsecho.cfg with the ROUTE_TO option.

    Regards,
    Nick

First of all, what mailer are you using? and is it perhaps a mailer that used Binkd, or binkd itself. If so, do you have Synchronet set as Arc attach, or as binkley style.
