Well My BBS went down last night for the last 5-6 days I have had multiple hacking attemps. as many as 3 nodes at once at times and they didnt get in but they did manage to get the bbs software to close down. If anyone out there knows how to set windows server 2003 standard addition to re run a program to start back up automaticly if its even possible, I'm all ears! I was at my home when this happened at 15 miles away 10pm to far to drive to turn it back on. I guess i could set up the server for remote login and do it that way but thought I would ask!

Sure,
Install Synchronet as a Windows Service.
Edit that service, there is a tab to restart the service's process if it sto

Hey Art I dont know how to do that. Its been awhile since I've run a server, I'm just fumbling around and i get lucky getting it to do what
I want. I'll see if I can find any help on the net I guess. By the way
I like the way your website looks maybe some time you could give me
some pointers on how you did it. I'm used to using fromt page but this
is a bit different. Thanks for the reply

Your first stop will be the Synchronet wiki and docs, which will tell you how to install Synchronet as a Windows service.
Your second stop will be any site that shows you how to edit Windows Services so that they automatically restart.
I have a bit of a different setup, where I setup a scheduled task to run "sbbsntsvcs start" every few minutes. It does nothing, if SBBS is running, but will re-start any stopped SBBS services, should one or all of them have crashed.

Thank you sir.
The website is hosted using Synchronet's built in webserver service. I
wrote my own custom web code and a templating system. Happy to go through the steps with you whenever you wish.
It's not quite FrontPage, be warned. :)

If you've read this echo, you may know I've been having problems with the
nt service crashing from time to time. When does your service crash, and
how often must you have your computer rerun the nt service command? How,
in Windows do yu have scheduler run something every couple of minutes?
I'd just like to be able to leave this bbs for a few days without worrying it's going to die. Never had this issue with older versions, and ultimately, I hope to help figure out what it's crashing so we can fix it. Soes this "fix" work if the nt service throws an exception message?
Ahoy back at ya Art, Okay got the services going. I looked before in the docs never found it guess i didn't look hard enough. I would apreciate the help with the web setup when ever you have time to walk me threw it.
but that has happened to me less than 2 or 3 times in my
combined 500 years of running Synchronet.

Dude, yer old!
I try to read, but I don't follow everything as closely as I used to.

I run it every 5 minutes.
In Windows Server 2008, I do the following:
- Run Task Scheduler. - Create a new task. - Add an Action to Start
a program: c:\sbbs\exec\sbbsNTsvcs start - Add a Trigger to start
from 00:00, and repeat every 5 minutes. - Configure whatever
