Hey folks.. I have 3 QWK networks that I am running right now in
Synch and would like to bridge them over to FTN in my WinServer
package. How does one go about this? Something I can do right in
Sync or do I have other hoops to jump through in order for this to
work. I know other networks out there have FTN and QWK capabilities amongst others like NNTP and E-Mail.
I just want to bring the stuff over to my other board via FTN if at
all possible.

It's very possible. Just setup WINServer as an FTN link to your Synchronet system. That should work fine. Then in order to FTN links to see the same messages QWK links do, and vice versa, enable the "Gate Between Net Types" option in SCFG for each Sub-Board's (message area's) "Network Options".

Nick

I used to automate it ... The tricky part is getting a script'ed ftp.Re: QWK Networks and FTNWell.... Good question.. that might be even easier huh? It would have
to be a manual process though I think right? I'm reading in the old days
of WinServer in order to do QWK networks one needed a comm program to that could run scripts to make the calls and down/up load the packets etc.
This I could do manually I guess. Unless there is a better way to
automate it? They are running on the same server...
Also, just a thought...It's very possible. Just setup WINServer as an FTN link to your

manually ftp the QWK packets via IREX or some other program, then move themto where you want winserver to find them, make a copy of it to Synchronet's data directory, Synchronet will instantly import them, tell wcqwk to import its packet, then export and send it...
You can also setup a news server and link them via NNTP. If you don't openthe port on your router, it will just be inside your network.

I missed most of this conversation, but I'm guessing this is on a
Win32 box? I wonder if there's a version of "wget" for Win32. I'm
sure there is... I use a custom shell script in Linux along with wget
to FTP download my QWK file, then FTP upload the REP.
Shouldn't be too hard to set up something similar and schedule
periodic executions on Windows, but with a batch file.
