• Badwords Filter

From W6RAY@VERT/US99 to All on Saturday, February 01, 2014 15:09:00
I did a short search today looking for a way to remove profanity from
incoming as well as outgoing messages on Synchronet. I know there is one
for the AX.25 stuff that eChicken wrote, but I would like to filter it out
    in the message bases.

Would such a program or filter be ran before SBBSECHO imports or can it be done on messages already imported?

The way I did it was a bit different than what you're looking for here. I was passing text through a censorship filter just before it got sent to the TNC / out over the air. The message is still saved in its original form on your BBS, and is visible uncensored via the terminal server, the web, NNTP, etc.

Unless there's some built in functionality that does this that I am unaware of (which there may be - I have never really looked for it, though I should have) you'd probably have to resort to a scripted solution that censors and re-writes messages after they are posted / imported.
