So I've almost got my BBS ready to go public, though still have a lot of customization. Anyways I have a kind of serious problem. I have it running and can telnet in from the local machine. However, sometimes when I log off I get the following error in data/error.log

    Sat Jan 18 2014 11:36 pm behindthecurtain.us
0004 !ERROR 98 binding Telnet Server socket to port 2323

    Sat Jan 18 2014 11:36 pm behindthecurtain.us
!Another application or service may be using this port

After that telnet becomes unresponsive and I have to restart the BBS. Any idea? Thanks!

it's exactly that... port 2323 is being used bby an other application.

What applications, net related, do you have using port 2323. Change the synchronet one to 2324 and map that port from your router correctly and problem is solved.

most likely sync is recycling too fast and trying to grab the port before the OS has recovered from the previous instance releasing it... i had to adjust my friend's sync configs to delay for 5 to 10 seconds when cycling...

Right you got it. The wiki has instructions to fix the problem.
