Hi all I am setting up dbridge for dos in an old computer so that I can setup a dialup bbs using synchronet. I have tried to call in when dbridge
is loaded up and have added the command line in the program to load the BBS and it connects but after a couple of seconds it says no carrier and I
don't get hit escape twice or anything this computer has very little
memory. any help would be apprecicated. thanks, Harvey

What version of Synchronet are you trying to do this with?
Synchronet v3 cannot be used in this way but there are certainly
ways to "setup a dialup BBS using Synchronet". You don't need dbridge.w/Unix.

I am having problems with all the door mailers. I am trying to set them up so that the mailer will wait and if a human caller tries to call in it will go to the bbs. I have tried everything I know. Could someone help me
please. thanks, Harve

You should just tell him to get the shareware version of Frontdoor being he only wants to do POTS. There he can use events, errorlevels and have the caller determind if he wants to go to the BBS. Easy... :)

The Radius/Taurus mailer can take phone calls and pass them to a BBS, though I've never tried it with sbbs. Might look up the Radius documentation online somewhere and see if you can figure it out.
i'm pretty sure people have been helping this guy for about 3 years. he always has the same story and says he cant get it to work. never provides any
decent information. i banned him from the bbses fb bbses and i guess the group that started up after i shut mine down banned him recently.
i wouldnt help the guy because anything that you can say to him HAS been said in triplicate by now. he's been provided detailed information,
how-to's and screenshots. he just keeps coming back each year with the
same shit.

Or SexPOTS would do the job as well, and just ignore Fidonet
altogether. The Radius/Taurus mailer can take phone calls and pass them
to a BBS, though I've never tried it with sbbs. Might look up the

So he's the kind of huy who asks for help but actually wants you to do it for him? That is not the way you learn.

I've got thick skin and just maybe he's a slow learner. A quick answer to his questions doesn't bother me. :)

I use Taurus as a POTS frontend here. I occassionally have a downlink that uses POTS to get his mail, and it works well for that. I do NOT use it to send
out mail. I would have to make changes to the BBS and do a lot of RTFM for taurus, and that is sadly lacking.
I DO have POTS callers, and they are
shunted to the BBS with a facsimile telnet connection <G>

Are Taurus, Radius, Argus, and the like DOS or Windows only? While I obviously do not know his intentions, he did ask about setting D'Bridge
up on a DOS computer.
His best bet would be to ask in the D'Bridge Fidonet Echo.

i do not exaggerate. you will eventually think you are talking to some joke chat bot when you deal with this guy. it just keeps going in a loop.
i compared him to phil, but that was not fair. phil, underneath is a smart and he gets shit done when he puts his head into it. he just asks questions things he knows answers to, maybe because he is unsure of himself or some ot personality quirk.

Either. Eggdrop bots can be scripted to do anything asked of them. Just setup keywords in the bot, give a command that will show the user the list that is available then the users trigger those key words and it will

on my irc server we had a great bot, but the operator moved servers and didnt have a backup of the brain. there was about 8 years of learning. the bot said some interesting shit. :D
I have a HelpBot on mine... answers the normal irc basic command questions but I also have an AI module installed in it. It's one that "Learns as it goes". Some kinky stuff gets thrown across the screen at times... :)
