• German Football (as in Soccer) - anyone interested?!

From Lodger@VERT/WMUTE to All on Friday, March 05, 2010 00:01:59
    Hello fellow DOVE-Netters,

if you don't know me already, I'm "lodger" the SysOp of Wintermute BBS, located in the beatuyful town of Duesseldorf, Germany (in U.S. / Canadian dimensions we're sort of "close to" Amsterdam, Europe ;). Well, I'm very much into football (Soccer) over here in and I'm interested if anyone here on DOVE-Net might be interested in getting some information on European Football in general or Germany's second division football league?

To give you some background on my person: my favourite football club is - of course - the club of my hometown here across "the pond": Fortuna Duesseldorf. This Club has seen good times (playing the european club finals in 1979 against Barcelona) and, at least for the past ten years, very bad times getting down to 4th division (1st div. being the highest league in Germany). If you're into baseball, think "Cleveland Indians" here.

Anyway, we're back in 2nd division this season, and we might get promoted to 1st div. if things work out right.

So, if you're at least a little bit interested in stuff like this, let me know.

    Kind regards,
    Lodger

It will be interesting to see how far the US team goes in the World Cup this summer, we got a lot of good players some of which do play overseas. But other than that who really cares.

Footbal should'nt be called Football beacause it's mainly played with the hand.. I beleive the Americans just ripped off the term because futball has always been so popular.. and yes I love futbal (soccer) but I love Football too :) but I would take Nascar over both.. and if anyone wants to be a bigot and call me a redneck more power to ya... always been so popular.. and yes I love futbal (soccer) but I love Football
I like hockey, nothing like watching a guy smack another guy with a
wooden stick! It's why I think football should be played with all team
members carrying an aluminum baseball bat.... Perhaps you could fill the
inside of the bats with lead and it'd be a little more fun... Give one guy
the ball and a bat, he attempts to make it to the other end of the field,
and any and all players on the other team are allowed to hit him with their
bats anywhere they please as often as they please ... If he should drop the
ball, its fair game for anyone to pick it up... I guess we could give
two players on each team a stun gun... Maybe give the center a cattle prod.
One of these days the NFL will see things my way... When they do, they
won't be worried about wearing a cup so much as coming up with new forms
of protection for the cattle prod to the groin move....

I was a fan of Soccer when I was younger, hell I even played for years when I was a kid. Nowadays, I don't watch it much at all.

I don't care what people say about Nascar, really. I was never really a fan, just because of the fact that I'm more of a drag racing fan. It's awesome watching the pileups and nudging and all that, but the races that that doesn't happen much in, are pretty boring, IMHO. Although 200mph in a quarter mile is freaking breathtaking.. every time.

I can't say I really know too many actual rednecks. Though my interpretation of a real redneck is like Cledus from the Simpsons. I know and am friends with farmers, hunters, short oval track racers, and whatever. But they're still regular people. *shrug*

As long as you're not counting all the illegal aliens that are allowed into our country every day, that statement is probably 90% true.

Either way, the reason new people usually don't come around, or stay around, is because a few people like to up and shit on their parade before even saying "Hi," or "welcome to <insert network here>."

I like Ryedawg... he speaks his mind... I don't see that he trolls (much) bu we have all been guilty of that.. we have all had our bouts with each other. but as long as we understand that this is justa a medium to convey our likes/dislikes and ignorance we will all be alright.. and I would assume we all friends to a certian extent.. except Ron scrotumtini..

I don't mind him either. It's great that he speaks his mind, and with all the people arguing with him and telling him he's an idiot, etc. I'm glad he stuck it out and stayed around. I just think the trolling (and yeah, it was quite a bit of it there for a week or two) is for immature fucks that can't get their dick past their zipper.

That's not fair! I'm not immature! I love trolling! Live bait fishing is cool too. I'll even use a brim-buster with a cricket if I have to.

Well fishing won't be a sport much longer if the feds get their way. They want to ban fishing off the coast and inland for private citizens. Bassmaster Classic is frickin cool to watch sometimes.

Ya, and you can use it to REALLY piss off your girlfriend/wife/uh...I don't go there but...partner...??

Just get up @ 3:30 in the morning...Have some breakfast & coffee, take off, pick up your buddy, buy some worms (shrimp, whatever)...hit the (river, lake, bay, ocean...(bar)...whatever) & be gone until 2:30 the next morning.

Doesn't matter if you come back with fish. Just say, "We kept tryin' an' tryin' an' we aint done caught shit."

Yah...'cuz all them rich oil dudes want offshore oil drilling & it's gonna kill all the fish...Inland? Hell, if we allowed fishing inland where would we be able to throw our toxic waste & general trash???

Bassmaster Classic? Love fishing. Hate watching it. Rather watch paint dry.

Yeah, Lord knows anyone whose ever read the news paper or the the signs at
the beaches that feeds from the Gulf of Mexico knows nobody in their right
mind would eat the fish they catch. Offshore ships dump their human waste
into the gulf, combined with the dead bodies from Katrina and Rita in New
Orleans and Cameron that washed into the ocean means unless your a crab,
you probably don't have a taste for what you catch... With that in mind,
if you like torturing fish, catch them and release them, otherwise no reason
to fish in most places in the south....

You don't have to piss them off if you have a good story. :)

completely off topic, but that reminds me of when a friend of mine took a dump in a purse and set it in a parking lot of a convience store, we staked it out at the c-store across the street and a guy picked it up and took it to his car, we could see him digging in it and then quickly right after he threw it back out :)
