Actually, I don't think people have to give up their fairytales, but rather that they'd just understand that fairytales are personal and shouldn't be used for anything other than self-delusion. Sadly, even removing the fairytales, the people in power would just come up with something else to control the masses. That's what it's always going to be about anyway.
