My five year old daughter saw a comercial involving shrek, and turns and said "Daddy, most people know monsters are not real right?". I agreed with her, and just after the words left my mouth, I realised how truly wrong I was, but did not have the heart to explain at that moment .....

Monsters like that are not real... but working in Law Enforcement / Corrections I can say that there are people who are real monsters. Sadly the ral monsters don't always appear to be monsters on the outside... they are monsters on the inside.

I would have the talk about 'really bad people' with her. They are never too young to talk about strangers and etc.
