I think this is sorta the Athiest echo, but are any of you Catholic?

I love my religion and my church. I feel like I've got the best of both
    worlds.

My religion helps me stay focused on what's important in my life, gives me a method for dealing with pain in the ass people, and pain in the ass
situations, and opens an avenue of thought towards the afterlife.

My church is cool because it's bright in there, (some other Catholic churches are dark & depressing) the parking is good, there are a handful of
familiar faces, I've made friends there, and the fathers are nice guys who
have been comforting throughout the past few years that I've been living in this town. We even get drunk together once in a while (ok, not the fathers,
but some of the other guys!)

Welcome to the debate! I was raised Lutheran, so I got to hear about rotten Catholics while growing up (just teasing.) My father is from a Catholic household, anbd my mother was Lutheran, plus I have an uncle who is a
Lutheran Pastor and another who is a Catholic priest. We all learned to get along years ago. My father converted when he got married, but otherwise
wasn't very religious. His parents were froma similar situation, so he never felt either practice was either good or bad. I'm along those same lines, and do not worry about bursting into flames when I attend a wedding or otherevent at a Catholic church.

Regarding religious discussion, I like to play both sides. While there is muc h we can learn from science, there is also much it cannot explain, like why
we humans are set apart from the other animals by self determination and ability to override instinct with logic and reasoning.

Hey religion is responsible for a lot of shit in this world. People came to America to practice their religion. Then they had to spread their religion to the savage indians. Land was conquered and towns were built. Missions were built. Sometimes I wonder what our world would look like without religion.

that's not how it happened and people are responsible for their own actions. not religion.
