• Lazarus Rises to V1.0

From Chris@VERT/DMINE to All on Saturday, September 01, 2012 20:32:01
After only 13 short years, the Lazarus IDE for Free Pascal has hit the v1.0 mark. :-)

I'm not sure how many Pascal/Lazarus users we have here, but I figured I'd post
    a couple links on this.

    The Lazarus homepage:
    http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/

    Article from I-Programmer: http://www.i-programmer.info/news/90-tools/4726-pascal-ide-lazarus-10-released. html

Has anyone been following the development of Lazarus?

Neat, I'd no idea it was still being actively worked on. I was just thinking about Pascal the other day; thanks for the update.

I hadn't actually been following it by much either. I would like to do more Pascal development just for fun really. I just never have time to.

I was surprised to see that they even posted it on OS-News.

Download PePe (little skunk icon) for Android. Actually it looks like Pe'pe', but Pepe should find it. It's a pascal command line compiler. Free, you can pay more for a graphical pascal package.... Looks cool though. I've used
Free Pascal on both Windows and Linux. Lazarus on Linux, but mainly for Console stuff. Only recently did I dabble a little in the delphi look a like stuff of Lazarus.

I have both Lazarus and (obviously) fpc installed on my Mandriva installation. I like to toy around with the FPC command line when I get the chance. My main gripe with Lazarus, and maybe this is an aquired taste, but it takes the old GIMP approach with it's interface. The components are all seperate windows that are freefloating and gets discombobulated real fast. I'm guessing there are people who consider this a good thing so maybe I'm missing something.
