I upgraded the distro on my BBS machine and discovered a new program. I've used the screen command on occation but I had never looked at Byobu before, and it's just what I've been needing!
If you are not familiar with it, you might want to check it out. Like screen it lets you run programs in the background and switch between them. But it does a whole lot more..it has menu driven instructions and configuration (somewhat) and several really cool plugins to monitor your system... I was looking for a way to reliably run a couple of dosemu sessions in the background and switch between them. Byobu lets me log out and reconnect to the same "windows" at a later time. .. I work from a
remote using a terminal and my wireless connection stinks and I get disconnected sometimes...this is perfect!!
I was impressed so I had to share..
Enjoy!

Hmm, I just looked it up, and can't see much of anything it does that screen can't (screen can easily do attach/detach/reattach, as you described, using ^a^d to detach, and screen -r to reattach). I guess the status notification may have a use...otherwise, it looks like they just menuized screen. Feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken here...if it does something more useful, wouldn't mind finding a new program to be excited over.
