Could SyncTerm be bundled with the Ubuntu Software center, its easier to use than most of the applications pre-compiled there.

Something I've thought about myself, & figure to do something towards that end if no one else does...

the problem of synchronet and syncterm is the source code organizacion
that is not like another linux projects that use autotools, autoconf. etc.
its not hard to build, but you must change several config (and maybe
sources) files to use more standard directories (/bin,/var, /log, etc)
That issue make difficult to packaging synchronet

Robert J. Clay from Rocasa BBS was working in packagin bbs for debian
and ubuntu, He does great advances, maybe you can contact him.

    Saludos!

As Ragnarok so kindly noted, I have done some work on packaging SBBS for Debian & Ubuntu, and I am working on that again this year. (see, for
instance, the debian-315 & sbbsdev branches at [1].) I also did some work on packaging syncterm; that I also intend to work on some more this year. I was using svn for a code repository before and now use GIT; first thing I need to do is get the work I did on syncterm into a git repository from the old svn repository.
