    First of all, This is my first experence with Linux, and I've already run into a problem. My Sound Blast Live 24 isn't recognised by Ubuntu. I found a driver snd_emu10kx, and the directions say place these lines in the kernel configuration file, then compile:

    device sound
    device snd_emu10kx

    or Alternativly, load the driver at boot time, place the following line in loader.conf

    snd_emu10kx_load=YES

    Right, I have no idea on either one. It took me 10 trys to get 12.4 to recognize the raid drive and scsi. Any ideas on how I can get sound on this machine. Damn, I'm lost. I'm trying to learn Lenux, as I'm getting board with windows. I'm gonna try to run the bbs on this machine in time, after I figure things out.

    Use ALSA drivers for your sound card, the SB has been supported since Moby
    Dick was a minnow :) You'll need to install the Alsa-Drivers, Alsa-Utils and Alsa-Modules packages, then you should see access to your sound card after a reboot
