• Still working on Ubuntu

Well I have been at the computer working on trying to get my modem to work, and it's been almost 15 hours straight (we all know what that is like). Anyway I decided to install two copies of Ubuntu 11.10. One in VMware, the other using Wubi.exe.

Now in VMware I have made it to be identical to my wubi install with no modem support, or extra drivers. I disabled the NAT in the machine settings, and set up a Serial using Com3. After I did this I installed Wvdial, and once I entered wvdialconf it happen to find my modem, and wrote the much needed information in the wvdial.conf file. I tried a quick test, and it worked, it dialed out for me.
Now with that I thought maybe I had a chance here, and so I am now trying to figure out how to use something called setserial.

Three questions here: 1: Did VMware just pull the info from windows, and use the windows modem drivers?

2: If VMware worked as a lone copy of Ubuntu, then would using SetSerial do the very same thing?

3: How do I use SetSerial? I have tried all of the suggestions that I have come across which unfortunately is all for USB not for internal PCI modems.

All the help I get I will definitely appreciate believe me.

    Cheers.
