I had the TI-99 Computer. Lovely tape loading at its finest.
There was an RPG game on there that kept me up all night back in the day,
    what a classic.

I kick myself in the ass everytime I think of all the classic computers I used to have and discarded like a dumbass! Most of 'em I sold at garage sales. DAMN!! If you're interested, check out my classic computing page on my website: http://ralphsmole.com/classic.aspx

I still check out garage/yard sales for old computer stuff in the hope of finding something worthwhile to mess around with. I still have an old Pentium I machine(100 mhz) that I run DOS on to play the old games,etc..

You might want to put some stuff in uk.comp.vintage :) The Timex 1000
you have is what was known as the ZX81 in the UK. 1K and the 16K rampack
that had to be taped on. ?99 or ?49 if you wanted the kit so you could
    put it together yourself.

There's a computer museum where you can actually touch the old machines,
they have them turned on and working on weekends.

    http://www.24hourmuseum.org.uk/museum_gfx_en/AM11357.html

Wish I had known about it before I left for the US. A guy who volunteers
there posts on u.c.v I offered a HP700 that is sitting in my garage but
I don't think they wanted to pay the shipping.

If you've not heard of the MESS project at http://www.mess.org/ then
it's worth a look. The Multiple Emulator Super System can emulate many different systems, including various versions of the TI-99. You can
probably find the games you used to like and play them on the emulator.
It works great for the BBC Micro.

Does it use BIOS images? If so,where can they be downloaded?

The following has the TI99/4A ROMS.

    http://www.theoldcomputer.com/Libarary's/Emulation/BIOS_Roms/ti99rom.zip

See if those will do the trick.

If you really like to punish yourself, they have a ZX81 ROM too. ;)

For TI99/4A games, try the link below. They have BASIC, Extended BASIC
    and compiled games also.

    http://tigameshelf.net/

I've played with a lot of emulators and MESS is the best I've found for
several machine types. Let me know if you need help finding anything.

Oh, I've heard Cost Plus may have cockels, but I don't know if they have
    them in DFW.

    Regards
    Nigel

That reminds me, I have a system for Frank Vest. If you want an old P2 I
might have one knocking around. I've got a bunch of AMD processors that
have out lasted their motherboards, got about 4 dead boards right now
that I don't know what to do with.

Actually, one was my fault. I drove half way across Dallas to pick it
up, got home, wanted to put a new processor in it, popped the CPU fan
off, only after I put the screwdriver through the motherboard :(
