that's one of the reasons why i keep all my datafiles in separate directories and try to keep everything separate. and also when i make a change, i check it out so i dont pull a robert wolfe and flood everyone with dupe msgs.

That and making sure all of Synchronet's internal codes are unique. I added prefixes to all my message groups to help ensure the internal codes are unique. Even if the data files are in separate folders, it's still possible for two message areas to have the same internal code, and I believe that would still cause messages to be duplicated.

i'm pretty sure if they had the same internal code and they were in separate directories, it wouldnt link them because the datefiles are in two separate areas.

I believe the internal code is how Synchronet internally keeps track of where
a message should be posted. If 2 different message areas have the same internal code, I think a message would be posted to both places.
