• Looping Music

From Poindexter Fortran@VERT/REALITY to All on Monday, December 23, 2013 11:56:25
I had an odd experience this morning....

I was remoted into the BBS box from work, and launched Winamp to listen to my BBS shoutcast stream. I inadvertantly pointed the shoutcast server at it's own stream instead of my local client -- and it played a 30 second infinite loop of the last song it played. :)

i got SOME, but not all of the plugins and skins.

That sucks about Winamp, because I used to broadcast my live podcast show through their servers. I usually used to re-broadcast all of the time using Winamp. Any suggestions on something similiar?

Run your own server... Shoutcast and Icecast are easily setup and you can still use winamp as your streaming source.

Looks like Shoutcast.com is still up, they're still accepting my stream's info, and Radionomy bought Shoutcast and Winamp. Things may be going on a bit longer.

Radionomy is adding 50,000 streams to their current 6,000 streams. Good news for them!

There are many more shells out there that provide Shoutcast as well... it's not dead by any means.

I liked having my system listed on Shoutcast, but for the life of me don't think I ever had someone listening to my streams who found it from the shoutcast listings.

Being I use SAM Broadcaster, my station is listed on Audiorealm.com. From there, it has the ability for anyone to listen, link to the radio's webpage and a whole bunch of other shit I forget. I know from the website you can request songs if you'd like. Go to audiorealm.com and do a search for tequilamockingbird, you'll see it listed there. :)

    Enjoy..

    icecast.

i grabbed all the winamp files i could. they blocked my server so i had to do it at home. it's a lot of files and it sucks now cause all i have is filenames and no descriptions.

some of these games and addons had malware as well.

but i was able to separate the skins from the addons. the skins download was pretty huge.

well with the availability of android apps with shoutcast functions, it's certainly possible that this has happened or will happen in the future.

What in the world is going on? I thought Winamp was owned by Nullsoft, some private company run by a few programmers. I never realized they were owned by AOL, let alone bought out by another company.

I used to love Winamp back in the day, especially cause it played mods and other obscure formats. I still remember the very first song I played in it (and the reason for dling it): BasicInstinct.mod. The only reason I don't use Winamp now is cause I have XMMS in Linux ;)

Rest in Peace Winamp. You will be missed.

Oh that reminds me, Google Play sucks. I need a new music player for Android. I know what I'm downloading now!

I saw the announcement last year that AOL was going to stop developing WinAmp and take the files down - I was disappointed because I've been using WinAmp since around 1997 or 1998 and still use it occasioanlly. I didn't realize WinAmp had been bought by a Belgian company. At least someone still owns it, and hoepfully they'll continue to do development work on it. It has a
somewhat annoying bug right now where it stays in memory even after you close the window, so you have to go to the task manager and kill it. After
searching online, it seems that happens for many WinAmp users..
