And you still like him for monopolizing the computer world? That's a sham then.

You can't monopolize anything if there's no market for the product, if your product is far better than other products on the market it WILL sell more than the rest, but only if it is a SUPERIOR product and world wide Windows is the Superior computer software!
If only that were true.
Yet time and again, courts find Microsoft has violated some aspect of
law. Even the EC has cited MS for various infractions. Micorsoft's
history is littered with lawsuits.
It ain't ALL envy.
You are so right there Finnigan. Kudos.

A lot os us can recall times before BG was so philantropic with his
money. I used to have a copy of the letter he sent to the computer club
bemoaning lost revenue from folks passing around his DOS code.
Yet it was the prolification of that code into so many computers that
made DOS an early standard. and the x86 architechture it was based on.
The motororla was a significant option in the early days. Some still
think it's superior even today.

It was his BASIC code for the Altair. MS-BASIC proliferated because vendors bought it and put it on the ROMs.

I was referring to the code on tape. That it was DOS, I'm not so sure
about.
Bootlegged tapes were passed around to club members.
I loved Dos. It was the best OS ever. Simple to use and didn't require a brain to run it. It was pretty self explanatory. Plus it didn't crash as much either.

Crash as much as what? Can DOS be crashed?

When I used to be able to batch code fairly good along with a couple Qbasic stubs stuck in every now and then I was able to accomplish great things under DOS..
I loved it!
Don't have the patience for it now :(

Absolutely, DOS can be crashed.
Crash as much as windows. Yes I remember Dos used to crash from time to
time because of the limited memory we had back then and using a lot of programs.
How times change huh? Usually for the worst.
I have never had Win/XP or Vista crash ever. I haven't seen a BSOD since Win/ME.
