• Fokker wing needs repair

From Angus McLeod@VERT/ANJO to Digital Man on Monday, February 27, 2006 10:55:00
During assembly of the Big Red Fokker yesterday, I noticed a small split
in the MonoKote of the lowermost wing. Right where the wing is indented
at the leading edge, to form the wing saddle. Examination showed a small crack in the sheeting underneath. Peeling back the MonoKote, I saw that
the entire leading edge was separating, and when I "leant" on the wing,
there was considerable distortion visible as severe wrinkling of the
    covering.

I packed it all back in the car and brought it home without putting it to risk.

Fortunately, I have a roll of the matching MonoKote so I should be able to strip the wing in that area and recover after making any necessary repairs
    and adding whatever reinforcement necessary.

With the wing firmly braced near the tim (to the two wings above) I don't think that ther would have been much danger of a failure, but I prefer not
to risk that aircraft, because I'm rather fond of it. When it goes, I
want it to be because I *flew* it into the ground, not because I
    *neglected* it into the ground...
