• Touch and go!

Well, in the last two flying days I've done 24 takeoffs and landings, and
a number of not-quite-good-enough-to-qualify touch and gos. (About six.)
In the latter case, I put the wheels down on the ground, but lifted off
again and went around without *really* gaining full ground-control.

I am now planning to take the Big Red Fokker out and dust it off, and get
it tuned and charged. Yesterday would have been a great day -- calm,
clear, blue sky... Anyway, good weather will come again!

Infortunately, I had a triple disaster in my flight-box. I lost fuel-pump function and starter-motor function at the same time. I immediately
thought it was the fuse, but that proved to be intact. Turns out the starter-motor was on the blink, *and* the internal wiring of the
flight-box, including the banana-plug sockets, had failed. I now have to repair the started and the flight-box itself, in order to get any aircraft fueled and cranking. I bought new sockets -- and immediately lost them! They're in this house *somewhere*, but where?

Apparently there is a guy from Futaba in the island, and he has one of the
    new 14-MZ with him.

He is to come up to the club some time and show it to us. Well, at
US$2,300 a pop, I wasn't planning to buy one any time soon, despite the ability to display porno in colour and play MP3's while you fly! But the
part that puts me off most is the idea of pulling that 1/3 scale Stearman
up through a vertical corkscrew, into a stall turn, out into an inverted
flat spin, and your transmitter suddenly says "Windows has performed an illegal operation..." No, I think not.

So put Monte Vista Linux on it. :-)

A capital idea! But spending $2,200 on the radio to hack it? I wish I
had that much cash, just to play with!

So it really does run an embedded Windows? WinCE? Embedded NT?

It runs WinCE, IIRC. To be honest, it has two processors, one running
custom embedded code to control the aircraft and a second one with WinCE
on it to manage "general operating tasks ? such as set-up and
    programming."
