    My feet are killing me!

I just framed up a wing. Still got the sheer-webbing to put on, and the trailing edge to sort out, and the hinge-blocks to in-fill and the wing
dowel to reinforce, and the mounting bolt blocks to add and the joiner rod
to align, and the leading edge to profile, and the servo bay to design
and build, and the ailerons themselves to make but it's almost done. ;-)

Then the *other* wing will need doing.

Yes, I rather like the canard design, but this is my first POWERED canaed
and there can be some difficulties associated with the designs. For
instance, the CoG has to be done with a FULL tank instead of an empty one,
and it is possible that I'll have to ignore the plan and invert the engine
so as to get the carburetor jet in line with the tank outlet, and I've
decided to use six servos giving me full programmability on the
    surfaces...

And canards are supposed to be un-stallable, which makes a range of
aerobatic maneuvers (that depend upon stalling the wing) impossible, like spins, etc. And with pusher designs, over-rotation on takeoff usually
leads to a stopped engine and/or a broken prop... But it will be an interesting experience and an unusual configuration at out club.

I'm looking at the winglets. I intend to make mine bolt-on so they can be easily replaced in the event of a shunt. I'm wondering about sexier
shapes. (This plan was drawn in 1979!) And should I put tiny, matching, replaceable winglets on the forward plane as well? And should I make allowance for moving the main-gear aft? And the fin (*under* the model,
and not visible in the photo) and rudder look small, and will probably
foul the head of an inverted design, so maybe I should move it to the top?

Why, oh why, did I start this! :-/

The wings of the Dragon are almost complete. All that remains to be done
is sheet the lower center-section (deliberately not done because I need
access top the innards of that area still) and build on a servo bay. The servo bay will be easy enough, I think, just cutting a couple of 1/6th ply plates and gluing mounting blocks onto the ribs to fasten them to.

I've also nearly finished the winglets. They are built up from 1/16
sheet, and skinned with more 1/6 sheet cross-grained. This makes them
hollow, balsa plywood, with a strip of 1/6th ply where the mounting hiles
get drilled. They are under my lead bricks right now, and when they dry,
I'll stack them and cut out some final outline. Then they will have to be sand'n'sealed and finished.

Photos tomorrow, if I get a chance....

Ok, DM, I've put up a couple more photos of the progress (which has not
been great). Here is the new stuff:

    http://www.anjo.com/rc/aircraft/dragon/#winglets

The dummied-up wing shown is in the standard/recommended configuration as
per the plan. Of the other possible configurations, the one I like the
    look of is this one:

When I get the fuse up on it's landing gear (maybe tomorrow) then I will
try this configuration and see what the clearance with the ground is going
to be. As you know, we fly off of grass, and I don't want the tips to be
    too close to touching.
