This isn't really on topic, but I think I did one of the coolest things ever I got into comic book collecting for a while. So what I did is get the fanc bags and boards, and got these nice plastic totes and stored them away when got sick of them. Once every 5-6 years I open it up to just check and make sure they're alright. So I'm sitting on about 1200 mint condition comic boo that are at least 12 years old. :)

I don't know about it being the "coolest thing ever", but... ;)

Same deal here, same minimum age of the books, but many more than that. Hell, I've given away that many to kids here and there to inspire collections of their own, and about 4 times that to a local bookstore with which to break into comic book sales (which wasn't supposed to be a "gift" - it was because my buddy and I were going to buy the place, but the deal fell through to my absolute frustration).

I was lucky, though, when I was buying them up. A local paperback shop used to sell them for half cover price, no matter what their actual value was (so I used to get REAL old and expensive stuff at like $.05 a piece, huge stacks at a time) and several local comic dealers were really cool with me and my buddy, letting us accumulate "hold-piles" of stuff we made them special-order and paid off whenever we felt like getting around to it.

Mine are boxed tightly and stacked in a closet upstairs and I look them over once in a blue moon. TheWoman keeps trying to get me to sell them off (because, I suspect, she wants the storage space as justification for buying new clothes), but I don't intend to let them go for a few more decades at least, if at all.

Chances are, they'll be left to my daughter and son in my will.
