I can see our airstrip on the Google satellite map!

I can see the crossroads a Beulah, the "race" road, Windward cricket
pitch, the shooting swamp, Hunte's vacant house and Congo Road house (and Congo Road itself, for that matter), and there is the airstrip!

If I shift over to the cliff.... There is a Chris Foss Phase Six in red
and white! And... yes... There's Rudy, waving! :-)

Yea, I was kiddin' about Rudy and the Phase Six, but the first paragraph
is true. I am at about 7/10ths up the "Zoom" scale, but when I try to
zoom more, they say "Sorry, no higher rezz images available...."

What I don't understand is how you bookmark a particular "map". I tried
it, and got the full-sized global map again, when I called it up. Guess I musta screwed something up...

Oh! Dummy... there is a "Link to this page" link right on the page....

Here is a link from my neighbors house to an interesting site. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=1202+Iris+Street,+Brookings,+OR+97415&ll=41.854477,-124.147825&spn=0.008347,0.015664&t=k&hl=en
Use Map mode. Follow Highway 101 south. You should cross into
California. When you see Lake Earl Drive. It is on the west side of 101.
It should be right after North Bank Road (highway 197) which is on the
east side of 101. Both are marked as yellow roads.
Switch to Satellite mode. You should see a very interesting looking
    structure. Very large. Very Geometrical.
It is the previous home of Charles Manson. They had to buss him out
because he was causing too much trouble. Yup Pelican State Prison.

Even though the prison is within rock throwing distance from the highway
    101. No need to worry about stray prisoners. There is a 20 foot wide
pea gravel walkway going all the way around the prison. There are guard
towers spaced evenly around the 'trench'. Not feeling safe. The 20foot
fence is toped with stainless steel razor wire. The fence itself is a
double layer chain link fence. The inner layer is a charged high
voltage. And if that wasn't enough. There are laser beams that are
spaces so that if a object of a certain size breaks the beams it causes
the alarms and automatic guns to fire. There are also motion detectors
and heat sensors in this area. As well as the cameras. They call it 'no
mans land'. The rules are. If anyone is in this area they will be shot. period. Not even the guards access this area. So no one gets in or out
through the fence. Kinda gives you a warm fuzzy feeling doesn't it.

How do I know? I saw a home made video of the prison as it was being constructed. I also saw the blueprints. The blueprints are public
documents. You can order them from the state building department.

It is a cozy place to stay. The paint is a dirty white. In the general
area it is tinted towards the red. Which has the subliminal effect of
making it seem warm. The High security area is painted the same dirty
white except it is tinted towards the blue. Making it much colder
feeling. Even though the whole place is water heated within the walls
and bunks to a comfortable 72 degrees. In the high security area all of
the doors are steel. Even the doors on the cells are steel plate with
small holes drilled in them for visibility. Each cell has a toilet/desk
with a 19inch tv mounted within a steel box. (and no the prisioners
don't get the remote control). The 'common' exercise yard is a 20x30
foot area shared by aprox 40 cells. The doors are electronicaly opened.
The prisioners are then told to go into the yard. Did I forget to
mention that the yard is covered by more cement. There are two 10x10foot skylights. Double layer 1inch thick glass and bullet proof. Even a
helecopter could land on one without breaking it. There are 4 showers.
No shower curtains and under video survelience. The water is remotely controled (on/off) temperature regulated by thermostat. Your meals are
served in your cell. So other than your roommate you can theoreticaly
have no human contact. All of this is controled by a guard in the center
hub control booth. You would also have to go through some more bullet
proof glass to get to the guard. That is if you can climb up a 20 foot
cement wall. If you need to see the doctor. You will follow the guards
orders and walk through the open doors and down the halls that they tell
you to walk down. If you decide not to follow orders. They just shut the
doors at each end of the corridor. And leave you there. There are many
routes. So squatting in a hall will not stop the other inmates traffic.
Since there is no need for a guard to excort you. There is no chance you
can shout, guard brutatlity. The guards don't even have to be near you.
But this is for the 'bad asses'. The rest of the place is medium
security. This is where everyone starts out. It is more like a 'normal' prison. Library, dining hall, larger cells, etc. If you prove your a bad person. They just ship you down to the Maximum security level.

Can you imagine spending 20 years in a place like this. Not a nice place
    to live.

Oops sorry for the long post. Definetly off topic. But you can see it in
the satellite photo. You can even zoom in pretty close. Interesting stuff.
