From Angus Mcleod@VERT/ANJO to Digital Man on Wednesday, December 08, 2004 09:47:00
After a lengthy hiatus, during which I was on "hospital duty" and then for some time thereafter when I couldn't drum up any enthusiasm for the
project, my Elder 40 was sitting in a near-complete condition in my little workshop/modelling-room.

Well, I decided that I /had/ to get it done, and began by fettling a
little balsa here and there, and now I'm working towards a completed
model. Not with the same enthusiasm, but some progress is being made.

Only one photo to show at the very bottom:

    http://www.anjo.com/rc/aircraft/elder/index.php#maingear

I've painted the gear and attached it to the fuse, and also painted the
    engine compartment as well.

Not shown is work also done on the wing. I've cut out the cockpit and
painted that black too, as well as started work on the pilot figure. I do
not intend to put as much work into him (by any means) as I did on
Manfred, but I do need to get him painted and ready for gluing into the cockpit once covering is complete.

There isn't a lot to do, but the last little bit is always the tricky,
    fiddly, time-consuming, agravating, nobody-can-see-how-hard-this-was bits
that end up taking more time than the rest of the model! :-) For
instance, I had to shape two pieces of balsa to be fitted on the front of
the wing-saddle. They were about 1" by 1/4" sq. and they were damned difficult to make! You wouldn't even notice them if you examined the
model. I feel like taking a photo and sticking it on the page, but it's
such a "nothing" step that it doesn't deserve a photo! Still took me
    several hours, tho.....
