• Front door mailer

From Harvey Simpson@VERT/GAMES to All on Saturday, January 04, 2014 19:32:05
Hi all. Just wondering what would be the best front door mailer to put up for an old msdos based Synchronet bbs system? I got kicked off the BBS sysops page for not giving a full description of what I had done. All I was doing was asking for advice and having a hard time doing what they wanted me to do. I am a relative noob to the BBS scene. Be patient with me please. thanks, Harvey

This is the wrong message area for Synchronet-related questions (see http://wiki.synchro.net/howto:support for details).

I don't know what the "BBS sysops page" is or how one would be kicked off of it.

If you're talking about Synchronet v2, I guess any front-end mailer which supports 16-bit apps would work (e.g. FrontDoor, InterMail, Dbridge, etc.) - I've used all of those many years ago with Synchronet v2.

BBS Corner? BBS Scene? Could be anything....

I used to love Portal of Power. Though these days you really don't need a front-end mailer so much, most sysop's transfer mail via internet, so unless you just want to answer the phone with a real modem and provide the old style fidonet front end.... Even then, you pretty much need an older computer to do dial-up Synchronet... Anything beyond Windows 2000 did away with hopes of running a DOS BBS, unless doing it in an emulator...

i'm pretty sure on vert you can delete your accidental msgs after posting them. you quoted the entire message twice and didnt add anything into them.

I don't know what the "BBS sysops page" is or how one would be kicked
    off of it.

he would be talking about the various bbs related facebook groups. i kicked him off of the one i ran, then he was kicked off of 2 other ones.
he's the only guy i kicked off that wasnt a spammer.

what he does is comes out with this these questions every year about his
dialup bbs, and people go to great lengths to help him, and then he drops it all.

he has done this for several years, maybe 3-4.

i do not think he really takes anybody's advice or ever gets very far despite the time people put into him.

he is not really a noob to the bbs scene. he's just the type of guy that doesnt accomplish what he's doing in regards to his dialup bbs.
