• Weird cable modem issue

OK, I just had something funky crazy happen with my cable modem. Honestly, this makes absolutely no sense to me, but for some reason when I was trying to upload a REP packet over Telnet using SyncTerm, I lost some portion of my connection.

I've no idea how or why this was happening. I kept an eye on my lights during this, and seen the usual banging on the receive light, but never saw any outgoing packets. My best guess is something was going on with my tcp/ip stack; perhaps SyncTerm hung it up? I'm running WinXP. Pinging IP addresses, nothing was getting out (8.8.8.8, nor even my modem's private address; didn't think of trying a loopback).

I repeated it two more times, once with the original 1k zmodem, and again with 8k zmodem. The reply packet's size is 1133 bytes.

Anyone else ever run into a problem like that? I'm presently running SyncTerm 0.8.

I remember Zedzap being 8k on Terminate. I used that because it was more reliable protocol handling when reading and writing blocks of data.
