What seems to be the best AV program to use, for the last two years I have be
    >subscribing to NOD32. Should I maintain my subscription, or should I go for
    >Norton or even go with Microsoft's free solution.

Nod32 has a very good reputation.. The only Pay-For one that I've seen
often do much better is BitDefender and I doubt the difference is worth changing for unless the cost difference were worthwhile. BitDefender is,
or at least was, very slow running system scans though compared to others.

I am very careful so I use the Free AV programs which are probably
not as good. I was quite happy with AVG and have used Avast! for a
while too and it seems to work well enough. But, again, it's hard to
tell if an AV program is working well. You can only tell when it's
NOT working. I haven't had a virus activate on any of my systems
since 1999 using Free software and a lot of care while surfing..
Freeware ones also work at a more basic level and usually need a lot
less 'computer' to run so slow down the computer less..

I don't like Security Suites. I prefer to pick the companies that make
one product well rather than hope they can do 3 or 4 things well.
Norton has always been a resource hog that takes over your whole
computer on the Home computer versions anyways.. and I've heard
a lot of complaints about McAfee so I tend to stay away from them.
I briefly tried Nod32 a few years back and it seemed good.
