OK, so I have been studying for the extra which I took this morning.
50/50
That felt good.
The 160 meter station project is progressing. The RBB is up to speed now
after a bit of repair, and my homebrew 6146(pierce)->2x811 CW/AM
transmitter is pretty close, but I think I can still improve the keying envelope a bit (uses grid block keying). It isn't chirpy or
splattering, but could look a little more textbook on the scope still.
I'm currently using a pro audio carver amp for plate modulation through
a big souter output tranny. Works better then expected, but eventually
will build a matching 2x2A3->2x811 modulator when I have time and the
right transformer.
What's left to do before Christmas:
Would love to do a 4 sqare array here, and I think I will, but it's
just too much to do and get it done before winter's over, so next
weekend I'm going to try and get a double L setup using a couple of my
tallest trees.
Receive is ready to go with a rotating coax loop and a full wave+
beverage running north/south. I don't have room for one east/west here.
BTW, the coax loop has been really amazing at how quiet it can be. I'm
able to just keep cranking in preamp gain. Makes a huge difference on
160.
Getting closer, but not there yet.
PIPER, GO GET YOUR GENERAL!
