• Echolink and Linux

From Sam Alexander@VERT to All on Friday, September 21, 2007 19:05:46
    Hey Guys,

Just an FYI... I downloaded Wine with apt-get on Ubuntu 7.04, and afterwards the Windows-based Echolink app installed
flawlessly on Linux and worked great! If anyone is an Echolink fan and uses Linux, have fun :)

I haven't messed around with echolink in like 6 months.. I used to talk on a 70cm repeater in Germany every night to the same guy. I guess it just doesn't have the real feel of radio...

    Hi jason,

I agree, Echolink isn't the same. For me though, the only radio I have is in my car, so to get 'on the air' from inside the house, Echolink is currently my only option until I get some cash saved up for
either a power supply or a new rig entirely. We have two local echolink repeaters, so I've even used it to participate in local nets. Definitely not the same thing, but for now it beats sitting in the
    hot car :)

    Sam

I don't even really talk on repeaters anymore..
