The following shows the last callsign in each group to be assigned
for each VE Region under the sequential callsign system, as of Apr.
15, 2007...taken DIRECT from the latest issue of WorldRadio magazine.
As a result, any typos are their responsibility.
If anyone knows the Internet address for this data, please let me
know, as it'd be a lot easier to check things.
For more information about the sequential callsign system, see Fact
Sheet PR5000 #206-S, dated August, 1996...or contact the Federal Communications Commission, Consumer Assistance Branch, 1270 Fairfield
Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325-7245...or call toll free (888) 225-5322; or
see the website http://www.fcc.gov/uls on the Internet. The "++"
designator means all callsigns in this group have been issued.

See, that's why I've always liked Icom? They are usually in working condition when they reach me.

I shoulda listened... I'm looking for the data cable (CT-62) for
connecting the radio to a computer. An upgrade for the microphone. The
internally supported tunner (long wire).
The antenna doesn't come with any mounting solutions.
These sorts of things found with an ICOM radio?

Actually, most radios will offer a number of optional extras that, depending on what you plan to do, you may need to get.
I don't know if their policy has changed, but Icom pissed me off
royallt, when I bought a $3,300 rig and it didn't come with a *mic*! (Their argument was that with a rig of that value, nobody used the
cheap mic anyway. My argument was that if the mic was so cheap, they might as well have included it!)
BTW it's looking like an outstanding radio.

Those radios are awesome preformers on 6 meter.. Get yourself a 6
meter horizontal loop and try it out.. I worked like 34 states on 6 in
2 years with that rig.
I live on a relativly small lot. A G5RV will be a challenge. The 6m
hallo might be next. Besides didn't you say you worked six fairly
regularly? I am looking forward to a 6m net.
Also working Angus will be a goal high up on my list (if he's still
active, that is)
But learning the rig is 1st priority. Er geting a good skyhook is tied
for first (-:

Yeah, I work 6 alot, followed by 10 and then 20 and 40.
I don't think Angus works phone.. only CW

What rig was that? How long ago? I bought a 746pro like 3 years ago for around $1600 and it came with a HM-36 hand mic.

About 15 years ago. It was an IC-970H back around 1991 or maybe 1992.

Sweet rig.
That's not true. I've worked SSB, CW and RTTY on HF and SSB and CW on satellite. I tried RTTY on satellite but got no returns. I tried HF
packet (live on the keyboard), but with very little success -- one contact in G-land. I've run VHF packet, but wasn't terribly impressed.
Automated packet is crap, particularly on HF! I have done plenty duplex packet on the Pacsats, and some simplex packet via the Fiji BBS birds.
The trouble is that the houses I've been living in for the last several years simply won't accomodate antennas. Therefore, regretfully, I an not active.

I use a G5RV-JR. 52 ft long dipole up at 15 feet off the ground and
have worked about 36 countries in a month and a half on 20 Meter phone with 125 watts.
I use a G5RV-JR. 52 ft long dipole up at 15 feet off the ground and have worked about 36 countries in a month and a half on 20 Meter phone with 125 watts.
IS it possible to roll up the ends (to shorten the elements) and work
short wave lengths?

Maybe.. I am not sure.. the 52 feet works from 40-10 and sometimes 6.
I use a tuner though.. Almost anything is possible with a tuner. You just have to make sure you have plastic insulators or something on the ends.

Anything is possible. But by rolling up the ends, you are probably creating inductive loads on the ends of the shortened antenna, so you
will have to take the inductance into account when figuring out what frequency the resulting antenna will resonate on.

I have the MFJ269 antenna analyzer... it tells where the sweet spot
is... but it should be a large one, I would think.
Amateur Radio Callsign Update from the FCC as of: May 7, 2007.
Data is from WorldRadio magazine, so any typos are theirs. These are
in "sequential" format, and do not necessarily include "vanity calls".
But no really. What the heck does this stand for?

Darryl loves to accummulate mundane information from across the amateur radio world and post it in DoveNET. He'd much rather post all 50,000 words daily rather than post a single URL.
He must think this is a Packet BBS, where success is judged by the size and number of UNWANTED and UNREAD bulletins you can pack onto the system, and the amount of QRM you can produce, transmitting them to other BBSs, where they are similarly UNWANTED and will be similarly UNREAD.

Well we can help him out by blasting the bands with a digital buzz
beep and humm. Lets all run full legal limit power with our TNC's and start sending text, music, files. Oh what the hell. I will send you my whole har drive.. On, all the bands at once.
Look for ya on Field Day.

Finally I did mangage to listen to the whole world (on 40 meters) Two
or three and sometimes four deep pile-ups.
Angus was one of the guys who got me started in this hobby 7 years ago a I still have not got to work him. I guess throwing up a dipole in Barbados i about a 10 year project??? Hint Hint Angus!!!
3 or 4 deep??? That is not a pileup! once you have 500 to 1000 people callin at the same time then you can call it a pileup.

Letsee... I spent too much time setting up my pop-up trailer.
An embarrasingly long time trying to figure out how the radfio itself
worked.
Getting an antenna UP was easier. Getting it to work right took alot
longer.
Figureing out I STILL needed the benefit of a tuner EVEN with the
self-tuning screwdriver.
Finally I did mangage to listen to the whole world (on 40 meters) Two
or three and sometimes four deep pile-ups.
I could NOT however find anyone that wanted (or could) to talk to me...
No contacts...
I _DID_ learn alot about my radio and several of the components
connected to it. So it wasn't a total loss.
...next year.
