You know, I've got to say I'm a little bit surprised. I had thought that I was going to be the youngest one getting into things here, considering
the hobby at age 37. It's good to see that there is new blood pouring into the mix. :)

I haven't been an active VE since November of 2011, but I can attest to the fact that up until that point we tested a good number of younger folks, and each of them were generally very well prepared for the exam and quite motivated to get on the air...

I'm 35 and have been considering getting into HAM for a while now but just haven't yet. One reason I haven't yet is that I've heard it helps to have a big outdoor antenna, and right now I live in an apratment, so I can't really put up a big antenna outside. I suppose it's still possible to get into HAM radio without such an antenna though.
Absolutely. This guy gives a good intro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Kad5KZKqV0

Others can chime in, but I've been looking into HAM, picked up a cheap BaoFe UV-5R handheld; there are repeaters around me that once you connect through let you get out beyond the reach of your local transmitter.

We had 2 licensed hams in Northwest GA last year that were around 13. In fact the boy scout Jamboree on the air, etc helps to get a lot of new folks interested in amateur radio, as does the satellites and ISS.
