• Anyone use "modern" digital modes?

From Chris Trainor@VERT/FLEETHQ to All on Monday, February 20, 2012 02:02:15
So just wondering if anyone out there in Dove-net land uses any of the 'modern' digital modes on ham? Like P25, DMR, or (eeeck!) D-Star?

A friend of mine nearby here is setting up a Hytera DMR repeater on
440... wondering if anyone else is really doing it. There are a couple
of D-Star and P25 repeaters around but most are out of range for us.

DMR seems neat because of the narrow bandwidth and data capabilities.
Similar to D-Star, but since it's commercial style radios you can
oftentimes get good deals on eBay.

Also, how 'bout D-ATV? That's something I played with a bit a couple
years ago, but noone else around here "gets it". (used DVB/QPSK for my stuff).
