Heh heh... just couldn't resist temptation... Just picked up a Ruger
Mini-14 Ranch Rifle this weekend. Had the scope rings, but no scope. Aftermarket flash supressor with hooded front sight. Looks nice, hope it shoots as well. Supposed to be warm this next week, so might take it to
the range and sight it in.

Anyone have a suggestion as to where I might locate a set of see-through
scope rings that will fit the integral scope mounts of this carbine?
Looked on the Internet and the only solution I could find was a Weaver
mount that didn't give the look I was hoping for.

    Happy shooting!

Cool. I want one. .223 is such a lovely round.

    Haven't shot .223 (5.56mm) since I last qualified with the M-16, back
around 1983 or so. Fairly inexpensive to play with, too. Only cost $5.39
for 20 rounds. Beats the hell out of the $26+ for 20 rounds I had to pay
    for my .454 Casull!

Serve you right for buying a single-action revolver! :-) Next time, save
    up for a Smith 460XVR!

Load up with .45 Colt and save a few bucks.

Actually, the Taurus Raging Bull is a double-action wheel gun. I'm trying
to convince my wife that with two revolvers, I'm entitled to at least one autoloading handgun. Of course, she doesn't have to know ahead of time
that I'm browsing the Magnum Research website for my NEXT play-thing...

I like the look of The Bull, but I'm not too comfortable with the idea of Taurus, somehow.

Actually, my favourite revolvers were the Dan Wesson line. I loved those guns. An excellent design, that kept the barrel in tension. Plus a load
of other excellent features that made them superb firearms. I think
they're now doing a 445 SuperMag, although, I think you could probably
kill *anything* with the 357 Maximum, unless it was dressed in armour
    plate!

Taurus DID have a reputation as a maker of cheap knock-offs of S&W
designs, but when they did decide to branch out on designs of their own,
they very often meet with good reviews. Then again, it's understandable
that people might want to purchase a Brazilian made handgun. They just
don't have that reputation and long-standing history you find in American
and European lines. One thing I DO like about the Bull is the integral
trigger and action lock. One twist of a key and the weapon is disabled, without having to fit a clumsy trigger guard lock or an ugly cable lock.
Means my Bull is as clean on display as it is in my holster.

Wesson is very well known and higly regarded. Friend of mine has a Dan
Wesson and a Smith & Wesson. Think they're both .357's but not positive.
I happen to like my Ruger (ducks - just in case). I know a lot of folks
have a problem with Rugers, mostly political. Political issues aside, the Ruger is a damned fine gun in my opinion. AND just to make my own personal point... When I bought my Mini-14, I made damned SURE I had a 30 round mag
    to go with it.

I used to own a Dan Wesson 715 (stainless .357) with the V2, VH4 and V6 barrels. The V6 worked well on the range, and the VH4 worked well tucked
    into my waistband. This:

    http://www.danwessonfirearms.com/data/productimg/main079.png

is a VH8 but 8" was always a little too much for my taste. I had a set of Pachmayr grips for it which made it much easier to hang on to when you
    "lit off" a hot round.
