Anybody heard the idea to start letting teachers conceal and carry? i think it's GREAT idea. Plus--it would be kept secret exactly WHICH teachers are carrying. This has GOT to pass law!!

Hey, they let pilots do it to protect passengers.. I believe it is a
WONDERFUL idea.. But what if one of the guns is in the hands of an
unstable teacher? Then it could be bad.. Overall though, I think it
    would be a great idea..

Well, they would go through the same steps as anybody who wants the conceal carry permit.

Yeah, but I have ALOT of questions about this one..

Like for instance.. How will the teacher conceal the gun? In a locked
desk drawer? On himself? (That seems VERY dangerous, considering if a
student somehow noticed it and decided to snatch it...)

But at the same time, if it isn't on him, chances are a school
shooting piece of shit would probably shoot him if he kept it in the
drawer. I mean, if you are going to do that, why not leave it up to a
teacher who may choke when something bad happens... Just hire
plain-clothed guards that carry. Hell, setup security booths outside
all schools with armed guards... I know it is awful to think of that
at your childs school.. BUT the only way to stop this is to have
    someone watching, all the time..

If a student decided to snatch a teachers firearm, the teacher should draw
the firearm and WASTE the kid.

(And I can't think of a better educational demonstration for the other
    kids, either!)

If teachers carry guns, there is a probability that eventually the teacher's own gun will be turned on him.

Cops carry guns openly, and this has been known to happen.

The question is, will this more often help prevent these things from happening, or will the presence of guns just exacerbate the situation; and this is an ongoing question in the gun control debate, nevermind this one specific instance.

I don't think anyone would propose that a teacher be forced to carry a gun, so hopefully only those with the training and ability to respond with deadly force when required would be carrying.

While I'm a proponent of carry laws, I don't know if the issue of school shootings is really bad enough (yet?) that a doomsday armed guard scenario is in order, but I definitely think that teachers, with the proper training, should be able to carry.

True, but the law right now forbits taking guns into schools. If a teacher got his/her CHL the laws would have to be changed to carry the gun into school.

Well in Texas when they first passed the CHL laws I think a decade or so
ago, it was put to the test by a guy who wasted a car jacker who jumped
into his car with a knife. The driver killed carjacker and got off scott free. After that the statistics show car jackings and home invasions
    started going down quite abt.

Problem is for schools, most of the time the kids have a suicide death wish anyway...

    No.

Many places already have laws that prevent teachers from carying. Laws preventing handguns on school premises, or perhaps as a condition of their employment.

I'd prefer legislation that explicitly grants teachers the right to carry on school premises.

Unfortunately, there's a new problem. The Police in several cities are busting into schools with full Ninja Turtle suits and terrorizing teachers
and children. It is actually a terrorism drill, but the Police unfortunately forget to tell the school ahead of time. See the full Associated Press
    article at:

    http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/S/SCHOOL_DRILL?SITE=FLTAM

If teachers had guns, who know what would happen in the chaos. The
childrens' faces were pushed up against the walls and they were close to peeing on themselves.

Further research of the web shows the Gov't is against home schooling. They want the kids to know only what the Gov't has to teach. Apparently these raids are in protest of home schoolers attempting to persuade parents to do the same, when there is no such relation.

Just Google "Police schools home schooling"
