i havent had soda from aldi's for years, but i do remember the citrus sodas being the only good ones. so if you want to save a few dollars, go with those.

regardless, you should stay away from soda. it's bad for the teeth.

In Australia there was a Schweppes Cola which I thought was the best of them all. I did come accross a 'natural' cola soft drink which was also quite nice, but I had only ever found it once.

The Schweppes Cola wasn't that different to RC.

Another nice one, is Cockta, a Yugoslavian version. Cola softdrink with a hint of rose hip.

Both were very common in Sydney in my teens (mid-late 90s) but I haven't seen Schweppes Cola for 20+ years. I still remember being annoyed when the vending machines at school switched from Schweppes to Pepsi in 2000.

RC was a similar taste (we bought it for home) but I seem to recall the Australian version using cane sugar (vs HFCS) which could also explain the similarities - Schweppes Cola also used cane sugar.

Personally, excluding sparkling water and tonic water for gin I haven't drank soft drink in years.

RC ("Royal Crown") cola was a player back in the game. Diet Rite was their diet offering - if memory serves.

IIRC, back in the day, Nancy Sinatra did some advertising for RC, and may
have had a TV special or two that was sponsored by them.

They seemed to fall out of the game when Coke and Pepsi ramped up their
rivalry advertising back in the early 1980's. Ford and GM did some of
their competition in, in a similar manner, in the 1960's.

I will keep an eye out for it and give it a try should I ever see it. Thanks!

Youre welcome! I hope you find it!

Is Cuba Cola popular in other countries or is it only found in Europe?
    Have you tested it?

I have never heard of it.

Looking it up, it appears to have originated in Sweden in 1953. I was recently in an area with a Scandanavian population (mostly of Norweigan and Finnish descent) so I could have looked for it.

Interesting. I didn't look it up, but I would have guessed it originated in Cuba.

    heres from their defunct website
    "The left wave
During the late 1960s and early 1970s, sales of Cuba Cola gained momentum. Some believe that it was because Swedish left-wing radicals consumed the drink heavily in the belief that they thereby supported Fidel Castro. Invented or not? That is what the scholars dispute."

Me too. They even had a diet RC that was really good for us Diabedics.

Isn't that Diet Rite? Or is that unrelated to RC?

    I believe it is/was.

    I can confirm that...
