Yup I've found that too. There is one time, however, I walked into a savers and there was an unattended cart of items about to be shelved, along with quite a few big box games. Nothing super rare but I just happened to be in the right place at the right time and was able to pick out some that I'd like to play before the thirft->ebay seller peeps came in and looted it all.

Also be sure to check out the puzzles/board games/toys section, I did find a big box copy of World of Xeen for like $7 in with the toddler toys.

Try yard sales, thats the best place to find them.
