When logging into Vertrauen, is there a way to bypass the annoying Inter-BBS Active Users and Synchronet Minesweeper Top 20 Winners ?

Is there some prefix I can use at the login screen to jump straight to main menu ?

YES! It's "get OpenXP" ;)

OpenXP is a command console point system for Windows and Linux.
It is still fully supported and being developed.

Alternatively, if you are still enamoured with using QWK, try
Sempoint or Durango. Sempoint is 16-bit for Windows. Durango
is 16-bit too, but it is more DOS-like. Both are nolonger
supported or developed.

Or.. consider NNTP-method for reading/writing messages. It's
quick, easy to add and remove areas, full control with your
message archive locally, etc.. You quite versatile in the sense
that you can use the newsreader of your choice.

i had a lot of login shit and i asked the users if they wanted to see it or not. i got sick of seeing it. most of them voted that they wanted to see it, so i made a menu that lets them toggle what they want to see. i use flags for it.

what gets my goat is going on these wanna be 'scene bbses' and seeing a 50 page scroller of ansi art. some bbses have tons of them in the login. i dont care if i can even abort the viewing. i still hate it.

I concur. I just started my own BBS after hosting a dial-up many years ago. The lengthy sign-up process and all the pre-entry screens were the first feedback I got from my users, so disabling a lot of that was my first project.

The answer to the OP's question is '*'. When I set up a user for DOVE-Net access on Vertrauen, it advised I could prefix with the asterisk key to get to the regular menu to change my password, if need be. Entering *ELBURROD jumped right from log-in to main menu nicely.

I find the auto scrolling of unasked-for ansi art very
disorienting. Some of the work is amazing with clever
renderings. But if I want to browse through a collection, I'd
rather make that decision for myself.
