The problem here is that my business is the last open business in this street, and the area is loaded with parking meters. So
lots of people end up walking up to my shop because they want change.

A good percentage of them are actually trying to pass me counterfeit money.

Most of these people never end up making a purchase.

If it was only 1 or 2 I would not mind, since it is a lot of people I risk having my change depleted so it is a no-no.

No parking meters on our rural streets.

There usually are not any on US rural streets, either, unless you are in a rural town.

i help people out all the time. most of the time they pay me back. i even buy groceries for people and all kinds of shit you woudlnt believe.

but i can not STAND an able bodied person who is a beggar. it makes me angry. my mom was a single mom and i grew up with nothing and she made it. i went through some rough times during the recessions and i never had to beg for anything. i went without.

i usually go tell them to suck some dicks. when it gets warm out here kids with brand new iphones stand near the interstate exits with signs begging for money. i had one disgusting guy creep up behind me in a restaurant when i was on a date. "siiiRRRRR can i have some channnnnnge???" i told him walmart down the street is hiring [and they were, they cant get enough people to work there].

it was gross because we went up behind me like fucking joe biden
creeping up to sniff my hair or whisper sweet nothings in my ear. i'm getting chills thinking about it.

A good percentage of them are actually trying to pass me
    counterfeit money.

If it's counterfeit, I hope you're not handing it back to them!
Here in Canada, we are to retain those bills and submit them to
authorities. But I can see the dilema and a potential scuffle
arising - unless I have my handy sycthe.

I can't seem to find pictures of Spanish bills. Have not your
country's bills been upgraded to the poly-version and multiple
    colours and holograms?

I also get a fair share of people who hand over $50 or $100
bills and want smaller bills instead. That sort of pisses me off
    - especially when there are 3 banks within walking distance.
Unless they are drug dealers or something, why are they in
possession of those large bills in the first place if they don't
    want them?

Most of these people never end up making a purchase.

I think you have the right idea of "no coins for parking meters"
    - UNLESS they make a minimum $5 purchase or something.

Do they grab a business card?

I hate it when people take by business cards as if it was free
    notepaper.

I would get people popping in asking for directions or for "the
best place to eat". Directions are easy, but for places to eat
that was tricky because I never went to any of them! :D

I still get the odd person showing up with the urgent need to
use a bathroom - it's the SAME people - and they never buy
anything. On the way out, one of them asks me to use my phone
    to make calls too. :/

If it was only 1 or 2 I would not mind, since it is a lot of
people I risk having my change depleted so it is a no-no.

I used to "sell" quarters and dimes to students in my university
residence. People would need extra dimes for the laundry
machines and extra quarters for the arcade machines on weekends
and evenings. I always tried to make sure I had plenty of rolls
of each. I'd try to garnish about 5% - 10%

I refuse to pay for parking myself so I am not familiar with the machines themselves. It is a protection racket like everything
the town hall does, and they expand the parking-metered area every year. They'll get my parking money when they start using the
public's money for what it is intended instead of smoking it.

I know, however, that you can pay the parking with a mobile app nowadays.

Is that a recent 2020-2021 activity? I guess covid thwarted the
    advantage of doing all that.

sales people who were trying to pass me counterfeits. Also
counterfeit perfume and soap. Then gypsies complain that
everybody associates them with counterfeits HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Some groups have a reputation that they can't or won't ever seem
    to avoid.

In the not too distant past, I would get street-salesmen come in
with samples of their wares. They would always be filled with
high hopes, energy and enthusiasm. Most of the time it would be
"junk" toys or gadgets. One time, someone was trying to peddle
books "that would be PERFECT for your shop!" they'd say. After,
checking the market for those titles, I could see that the
sales/interest ratings were low. In a way it was sad to see
their energy change after a rejection.

Apparently, I have to be careful with people passing me gov't
cheques that they want to cash. It is far harder to identify a
legitimate cheque than it is paper/poly currency.

I still get calls from people claiming to be the local police,
and asking me for my participation in a newsletter that they
circulate amongst their own kind. I'm thinking.. how would that
help ME if the newsletter is for THEM, and they probably don't
have time to read. I just brush them off by saying.."I'm sorry,
but [1] there is no way for me to confirm that I am speaking to
    a legitimate officer", and [2] "I don't see how a small
circulation like your newsletter is a benefit to me." Then we
agree to hang up on each other. I'm thinking, "gypsies"?

i was a telemarketer and we thought we were fundraisers but as the months went on we saw that we were a company that people hired to make money for them. when they would donate they would get a bill and a packet. i dont know if my company did that or the one that hired us.

anyways, we werent calling for an association of firefighters or vietnam vets or some type of lost children organization.

best thing to do is be nice and ask to be taken off their list.

midst of this pandemic when many businesses are going into more
debt and there is no money to spend on silly localized

I got a call from the local golf course just one month ago
trying to sell me advertising space on their score sheets.

    Give me a break!

Granted, some printing projects need to be planned in advance.
But in the midst of a lockdown and restricted public gatherings,
I really have to doubt that a friggin score sheet is going to
give me sales. Meanwhile, they are already scouting for money 6
months before the golfing season even starts. Sheeesh.

I can print a quality gift certificate on the fly from my laser

sheet with my ad (should I choose to participate) minutes before
they need them. Scraping funds from struggling businesses 6

    heavy restrictions is pathetic.

Back in the first dot-com boom in 1999-2001, there was a block right under

one of the onramps to the bridge. It was probably the only block with

Yeah, that's what I've noticed as well. Except here they don't show it as an added fee. Depending on where you park the price is different per hour (or per 30 minutes) - Where we parked last the price on the meter was $1 per hour but the price in the app was $1.50 per hour.

Let's talk about surge pricing - charging more as less spaces are available. San Francisco has tried that with their smart parking meters, I suppose they all talk to each other.
