Hey, I do that! :D It's much easier to hold a calculator and
poke at the keys than it is to move a mouse around...
Not only that but there are still times when a well trained 10-key operator can figure out something much faster than someone trying to
use the numeric keypad on a PC.
It's based on the concept of using the right tool for the job, even if
a newer tool exists that is slower.

I use Console Calculator by Zoesoft at work (Windows). I have the "Calculator" key set up to bring it up (the program itself can configure that key to bring it up), type in the equation and hit enter. So simple. Something like ((65*200)+500)/13000
can be typed just like that.
I agree a calculator is convienient, and better in some cases. I just find it odd that some people do multiple calculations with it. The problem really is that people don't think to use it, or no one things to have it installed for people to use.
