being in this setting. My father hated it. He would stay for 30 days and then they discharge him home. I would care for him until he fell yet again, went to the hospital and back to a nursing home. This went on for 2 years until finally I convinced him to stay. There was no other options. There was no money for an adult home or assisted living. He passed away in a nursing home. I know he did not want to be there. Sorry for the rant but I feel it's important to share my experience with nursing homes.

nursing homes are fucking hellholes. i would rather die than be put in one. not only that, but you have the people with diminished mental capabilities and dementia who think they are prisoners. that's truly sad.
then you get the ones that are real crazy and gross or sexual.

you dont wanna know what i've seen.

You're abolutley right. Worse yet they get away with it. Nobody checks to see what goes on in Nursing Homes. The workers look the other way. The state inspectors look the other way. But they all make sure they get their pay checks. They don't care if it's your mother, father, sister, brother, wife, or you. I had to stay with my father all day every day just to make sure he got the care he needed. If I couldn't make it to the nursing home that day the next day I would find him in his bed full of piss and shit. I had care meetings with the staff and doctors and it did nothing to change the negligence and abuse my father and other residents had to endure.

yep my mom was fired for exposing a coverup. multiple people let a patient die and they didnt catch serious medical flags.
nurses and workers all worked together to cover it up.

Sorry to hear that. So much for people trying to do the right thing. 90 percent of the Nursing Home workers aren't from the US. They get there certifications from S.Africa, Jamaica, Haiti or whatever 3rd world country their from. Then they come here and get hired by Nursing Homes. They don't have any morals to begin with and are too stupid to know the difference between right and wrong. They are all scared shitless of losing their jobs and will do anything to keep them. That means lie, cheat, steal from residents. Steal their prescription pain meds. There was a story in New York Newsday they were stealing morphine patches off seniors dying of cancer. Oh man.. what I would do if I ever caught one of those SOB's. Taking a patch off my father.
