True, especially as websites started adding heaps of crap to their
pages, which made dialup useless.
It wasn't so bad initially when services like AOL or Prodigy featured a homebase/portal of material. Most of the time spent was on their servers. They gleened the news stories and information and repackaged it so that
you lived on their domains.
