The software I'm using right now, Rocksolid Light (rslight), can talk nntp
to other servers, other installs of rslight, or just standalone. This site I'm using right now is connected to Synchronet as the backend.
We currently run 5 sites all with the same forums (rocksolid.* hierarchy) in three networks (clearnet, i2p and tor), running 2 rslight sites, one FudForum, one modified vichan and one custom site written as bash scripts. I'm using domain names I already owned, so they say 'bbs' in them. That's from when I was running the Synchronet web interface, which is where this
all started. www.rocksolidbbs.com

The presentation is very nice. It looks very doable on my meager 3" x 3" Blackberry display.
Including the thread tree at the top is very good! But, if access to that could be adapted into a swipe or a menu pull, that would be cool on a smartphone. Or.. collapse the thread-tree, and have it accessible in full view as a drop-down.
Maybe it's only available after a login, but a visual indicator of what messages have been read and which ones are unread would be good.
Also.. a S)earch feature thorugh the messages would be good too.
The default colour scheme is very classy and easy on the eyes.
The tree "should" be above where you land on the page, meaning you
should need to scroll up to see it. Each page has an anchor to try to accomplish that. I'm guessing that's not happening on your Blackberry,
not sure why.
rslight supports Synchronet, but it's nowhere near as designed for it
as, for example, echicken's webv4. Currently, rslight does not track
what messages you have read, which is a great feature on a bbs.
Sometime in the future maybe, but not yet.
I tend to read by clicking 'Overboard' for the whole area (like all DOVE-Net), or the blue icon to the left of each group to see the
newest messages in that group. Either way, they are sorted newest to oldest.
Also.. a S)earch feature thorugh the messages would be good too.
There is a simple search feature, but it can only search Subject, From
and Message-ID.

Thanks! I stole that scheme from a FudForum site another rocksolid node
uses.
Hello Retro!
The tree *is* above. A click on a title there takes me to the message below. The anchor works. But there is no way to get back to the exact/ last position in the thread tree. However, the Safari browser "Back" button is a viable alternative.

I barely noticed the search. By Subject/From works very well! Thank you.
By the way.. the color seems to have disappeared when I visit with my Blackberry. Or, I'd swear I saw it the first time I dropped by. :(
BTW.. I'm the anon user who posted "Hmmmm" in one of the .i2p forums a few minutes ago. I didn't think the system would allow it. I was using
my BB at the time and didn't want to spend typing anything important.
Keep up the good work.
You can post as anonymous in the Rocksolid groups, but not Dove-NET or the Usenet groups. Each section (rocksolid, dovenet etc.) is able to be configured separately for such things. I can deal with junk in rocksolid.*, but wanted to be as careful as I could with other sections. The DOVE-Net section isn't even available to Tor users, only i2p and clearnet.
Keep up the good work. Thanks for the feedback!
Yea, Retro Guy... I, also, wanted to write again just saying thanks for Dove-Net on rocksolid... I totally love how it looks on my iPhone, and I am stoked that in a pinch - or if I want to post something when I'm @ work - that theres a great option now.
Sure I can telnet into my board but... that sucks worse than covid lollipops while hustling and bustling.

Do you get the same cool blue background color that shows up when using a computer's browser?
Hello Retro!
I registered via your web presence (email verifications seemed to go ok), but posting fails:

you are addressing this to all and this should probably be a private
email. we have no idea what system you are talking about.

Yeah.. I know. I posted that before I remembered how to find the sysop in one of the nodelists.
Since Retro Guy posted a message about his system here in the past, I simply replied to that - or I thought I did. I mistakenly replied to Paulie420's message instead of Retro Guy's original message to me - that is why my message ended up posted to All. :(
maybe you should find a different way of posting since you are having these problems. -+-

HAHAHA. I now understand when a message is posted to All and when it gets posted to the sender. The system works consistently. There is no
problem. ;)
