I've been having a great time playing ASCII SECTOR... its an old ascii game, but unlinke small UNIX terminal games like WORM or TETRIS its a world of fun.

Its actually called Privateer Ascii Sector, and the world is just like the old DOS X-Wing...

Think Tradewars 2002 on steroids; I really suggest you grab it and enjoy an ascii experience thats much larger than usual.

Its a little hefty for BBS porting; but man... it gets me for a 2 hours tour. :P I might even play through a bit more...

you didnt quote what i said. anyways, i'm not saying i'd port it to a bbs doorgame. if it was possible i would run it via doorway but it's not.

i'm a fan of privateer but this game couldnt really get me into it.

Have you seen Privateer Gemini Gold? It's a modern open-source re-creation of Privateer that runs on modern operating systems (Windows, Linux, and Mac):

Please, show some respect to small UNIX terminal games like WORM. Trek was awesome. So much Klingong killing. The interface really made you feel like a Spaceship Captain issuing orders and asking for damage reports.
