So the book reading suggestion had me thinking...how about some old-time classic radio?
...just go over to archive.org.
I really enjoyed the Mystery Theatre - by EG Marshall back in 70s on AM radio. The creepy squeeky door and music was its signature.
AM reception was dubious most of the time. But when it was clear, it was
a treat to hear that show.
Consider them audio books of sorts...and all free to listen.
They are BETTER than audio books. The audio books people need to take a lesson from radio drama. The sound effects are the key to having a good product. Audio books that have someone reading material from a book can
be a big fail if the reader is trying to represent the different
characters and situations.
Even some podcasts do it better by just having a little hint of music in
the background.
