I'm not sure if my mic audio was getting out, but calcmandan said something that sounded like it was. Would be good to try it again.

I had a great time and it was nice talking to everyone for the first time. Could we discuss an always-on-always-available mumble service? I'd donate to the cause.

Something about sounding like a NPR announcer?

Hey, I think this software is what Linux Unplugged podcast uses and calls 'The Mumblebox'... it sounds really good, as far as sound quality goes...
I installed it, and would also join if theres ever a set time to talk BBSing...

Cool. We'll work out some kind of schedule, for now at least, I created a shared calendar https://synchro.net/meetups.html

cvs.synchro.net is actually always up and listening, no donation
needed. We just need to find a good calendar to schedule meet-ups.

I don't recall seeing a time mentioned, so international coordination gets even more tricky. :D

Right now I only have my laptops mic and speakers... who knows, maybe it will work fine - I'll try to pop in next time. :P LOL, no better time to solicit SBBS tips than when you got the masters on the line... :P

Yeah. I set up a google Calendar at https://synchro.net/meetups.html,
but it'll only show one time zone, the same time zone, to everyone. I
have it set to UTC right now, but I'd much rather have it show the
times in the browser's current time zone.

Looks like I've missed both meetings. 0300 UTC for me clashes with a local radio net every day. 0200 I can manage, but I might be living up to the system's name (mumble), as it's lunchtime! :D
Anyway, will try and keep an eye out for more meets. I have installed a Mumble client on my phone. :)

Oh, OK. Something I have to remember to check is going to be a disaster for me. :/ UTC works as a time zone for me, I'm pretty used to using it. :)

Pardon me for getting into this late. I installed mumble on my laptop (Ubuntu 18.04) and it works fine. Will the server pop up in the server list when it's active? Which country will it pop up under? It lists servers by country on the linux version.

If you use Gmail or an Android phone, I noticed there's a way you can
add DM's event to your calendar. It's supposed to be able to remind
you, though after adding it to my calendar, I didn't get any reminders
for it.

Just add the mumble server URL and you should just be able to go from there. That's what I did.

Ahh, OK. For me that introduces another layer of complexity - "which calendar? ;) ), but worth trying. :)

Recently I noticed Windows 10's calendar can sync with Google/Gmail's calendar. So it seems there is some interoperability between some of
the various calendar apps on different OSes these days.
