• sugary sodas. I can't t

    From August Abolins@VERT/PALANT to Vk3Jed on Friday, April 24, 2020 17:06:00
    Hi Vk3Jed,
In a message to Dr. What you wrote:

The unhealthy food actually disagrees with me now.

I find that with sugary sodas. I can't tolerate them now. And I
    don't miss them either.

What's the skinny on the "sparkling water" sodas that list 0 sugar, 0 calories, 0 fat, 0 sodium, 0 potassium, 0 carbs, 0 protein?

Some of them, depending on the flavour, do not taste too bad for a little variety for a drink on a summer day.

Interestingly, they do not list what the ingredient is to produce the flavour, other than "natural flavour".

    ..Regards,
    August

This whole "Hard Seltzer" trend is making me laugh. $19 for a 12 pack of spiked water? You could buy a $4 12-pack of Bubly and a $3 hip flask of cheap vodka for the same result.

The water from our faucets/taps is clean enough to drink from directly, though sometimes it's still good to use a water filter with it here. Our refrigerator has a water dispenser with a built-in filter. That's probably about the least expensive water available.

Thomas Edison made a quote about the lightbulb will become so common only the rich will burn candles. Before better roads existed, I bet if you went back and told someone people walk and ride bikes for recreation, they'd laugh.

That reminds me of Back To The Future 3, where Doc Brown is drunk and talking to people in the bar about the future, and he says people in 1985 will run for fun. Someone in the 1885 bar said "Run, for fun?" and they all laughed.

The concept of "fair chase" with regards to ethical hunting goes back to a social gathering where Theodore Roosevelt detailed a hunting trip where they crawled two miles to stalk a herd of animals during an African safari. A reported asked him, with all the technology we have, such as automobiles, airplanes, and machine guns, why would someone use a a basic firearm or primitive weapon and stalk game versus chasing them down with a car or plane and mow them down?

As you can guess, where is the challenge in that?
