I also read one (I need to find it and link it) where a major gaming
company based out of China, called RIOT (which is owned by Tencent which is pretty much owned by the government), is adding a root kit to their newest
game in an effort to curtail cheating at the game.

It was on the front page, top, of osnews.com as of 1300 USET today.

I was the one who typed that, but you directed your reply to Dumas Walker..

I assume it's because that's what China does. Their communist government likes to censor people, and they like to try to restrict what information their citizens can see, probably in an effort to try to control their citizens.

Why?

Nightfox actually posted that. My guess is so that their citizens, who are
not free, cannot talk to (or get any ideas from) people who are free.
Might make them realize that things there are not so great.

They may also use the gaming platforms as another means to communicate the extent of their issues with the coronavirus (which their government is allegedly downplaying), or to warn us of the next pandemic that is coming
out of their country (like they tried to with this one, and were punished
for it).
